Comparing the Newport Beach Real Estate Neighborhoods

Location is always the first thing to come up when one buys real estate, and Newport Beach is no exception. Just like any other city, Newport Beach neighborhoods run the gamut from bustling urban areas to laid-back communities, and everything in between. For people new to Newport Beach real estate, choosing between these neighborhoods can be confusing. After all, where you buy your home affects more than just the price - it can dictate how well you live for the next few years. If you're not sure where to look for Newport Beach real estate, here are some factors worth looking into.

Local transport. If you need to go to work or take the kids to school every day, you may want a home close to highways or public transport hubs. Some homes are a few minutes' walk from local schools, so they may also be worth a look. Check out Newport Beach real estate listings to see which neighborhoods are the most accessible.

Basic services. Gated communities make up a good part of Newport Beach real estate, and most of them offer excellent amenities: pools, spas, picnic areas, and even direct access to the beach. But don't forget to check out basic services such as maintenance and security. Try to get a copy of the association rules and see what they offer (and at what cost).

Medical facilities. This is one of the most overlooked factors in Newport Beach real estate, but needless to say, it's also one of the most important. Ideally, your home should be a good driving distance from at least one hospital or medical center. You can also check local emergency services and make sure they provide emergency transport.

Recreational areas. If you have kids or pets, having access to parks and open space can be quite useful. Most neighborhoods have at least one park that residents can walk to, and many have great views of the beach and the city. Many of them also host community events such as picnics and art shows, so they may also be worth a look.

Schools and colleges. The abundance of local schools is actually one of the main selling points of Newport Beach real estate. Many of the schools are ranked among the best in California, and are just minutes from most of the neighborhoods. Don’t hesitate to call the schools and ask about testing, safety, college acceptance levels, and student/teacher ratios.

Demographics. Finally, have a look at who and what you'll be living with. Newport Beach has a very diverse community, so pretty much anyone can feel right at home—it’s all about finding a place that suits your lifestyle. Try to get to know the locals and look at community profiles to see where you best fit in.
