Fortunately, a lot of residential units for sale in most real estate markets today have bigger spaces. These homes are usually comprised of several rooms including the one for guests. But if you have purchased your home without the aforementioned additional room, you can still make way to give your guests their comfortable space during a long visit.

Meanwhile, imagine yourself in this scenario. Your in-laws, relatives or close friends come over to your abode. Suddenly, hard rain falls for hours. Your guests cannot take on the road as it would be very dangerous to travel during this situation. Naturally, you would be obliged to let them sleep over, but you do not have enough room for everyone. You then offer your couch as their temporary sleeping area. If you found yourself embarrassed over and over again as the nicest space you could offer your guests is your couch, now is the time to finally embark on a remodeling project for guest quarters.

This project may be automatically assumed to be very costly. But there are several ways that you can still be successful in putting out this space while spending just a little. The first thing you have to do is to survey your home area. Look for dormant spaces. Below are two common areas that can be easily converted into a comfortable guest room.

The basement and garage are two spaces that are usually turned into mere storage areas. These locations in your home are often overlooked. They can be remodeled and turned into an impressive space especially created for your visitors.

First of all, you have to clear either area from all the stored items. This would even serve as an opportunity for you to dispose of so many things you did not even notice were there. As you de-clutter the basement or the garage, lay out a plan. Try making a rough sketch of its projected final look. Include in this drawing the layout of the furniture pieces such as bed, couch, table, chair or desk.

Repaint the walls with neutral warm colors. And then add the final touches. Potted plants will always be the simplest way to make a room look fresher. Hang some pictures. Designate a book nook. A small shelf with a few books or magazines will be fine. If the space permits, installing a hammock on one side of the room would make it look more comfortable and inviting. Also, the hammock can serve an additional sitting or relaxation spot.

On another note, evaluate the current status of the ventilation, insulation, heating and cooling system in either space. If the space lacks openings for air and light like windows and skylights, consider installing these missing features. If you find the wall padding has already deteriorated, immediately replace it with thicker material.

Also, ensure that balanced temperature is present in the room. To eliminate guesswork which may result to bad decisions, consider hiring an inspector for the said aspects. He can then guide as to which repairs are necessary and are applicable in the concerned space.

With these simple guides, you can surely provide your guests a better stay in your home. In the end, you will be the most unforgettable and welcoming host they will ever meet.
