All women want to have a sizable bathroom to have in their home and especially in their own room. Planning to have your bathroom renovated if not carefully plan can even lead to disappointing outcome. Like any other task that is needed to be done, having a checklist for bathroom renovation is necessary. Your checklist for your bathroom renovation should include your budget, the floor plan, the list of supplies you will need for the renovation, expected time of completion, and of course if there are important legal considerations for doing the renovation.

You should first decide on how much money you need for the renovation. Consult a professional to evaluate your bathroom renovation that will include the electrical, heating and cooling system, plumbing, and drywall installation.

The second in your list should be the floor plan where you will decide if you are just going to be working with the existing space you have for the bathroom, or will you be knocking down walls to create a bigger bathroom. You will need to make sure that all electrical wiring will not interfere with plumbing or zoning regulations. Measure the amount of space you will need and draw your floor plan. In creating your floor plan, you will need to put all the items that are already there. The toilet for example is already a fixed item because of the plumbing. You can use different arrangements, different types of shelves, cabinetry and walls. If you are aiming to create space you can experiment with pocket doors, corner sinks, pedestal sinks, or floating sinks. You can also look for corner showers since it also conserve space.

The list of supplies for your bathroom should be available and ready for use when your designer, installer or carpenter needs them. Some of the most common supplies will include sinks, flooring, countertops, wall tile, lighting, medicine cabinets, bath tubs, showers, cabinets and cabinet handles, wallpaper, chair, storage containers, and other items you think necessary for your bathroom.

If you are planning to do the bathroom yourself, ask someone who knows about bathroom renovation like a carpenter or a designer on how much time you will need to spend. If you are hiring contractors, talk about your floor plan and set a time table they can follow.

When doing your own renovation, plan your design based to the time table you have set for yourself. You can begin working on the sink and the shower on the weekend and a new toilet on the next. You do not have to speed up your renovation, so make thorough planning. Prioritize the hardware first before painting the walls or installing the woodwork because you do not want to damage the work you have already completed.

The legal considerations for renovating your bathroom should include acquiring a permit, paying necessary fees, your workers and you having insurance coverage, and keeping children out of the construction area.

This checklist if properly followed, will allow you to have a smooth sailing renovation with less stress.
