Relocating is tough because you have to start a new life. You move to a new home and a new community. This means that you will be mingling with new people as well. It is evident that you need to make new friends. This is to make your life happier and more interesting. However, this is not easy especially for those who are not very sociable.

If you are someone who is not comfortable with talking to strangers, it is time to deal with that. Always remember that strangers are potential friends, as long as you give them a chance. Once you start talking to new people, it will be easier to make new friends.

Where will you find potential friends?

You need to learn where most people your age hang out. Is there a club house you can check or café where most people meet? Know these places. Identifying such areas will give you a hint of where to find your potential friend. You need to check out the place because it is less likely for you to find a new friend if you just stay at home.

How are you going to talk to them?

It is not enough that you find them. You should be able to connect as well. You will be able to do that by introducing yourself. However, you should prepare yourself for rejection too. Not everyone is comfortable with strangers talking to them. Find a way to start a conversation. You can probably compliment the person next to you or ask him a question regarding the neighborhood. This will give you a chance to introduce yourself and ask the person his name.

What will you talk about?

Once you got the attention of the person, it is important that you keep the conversation interesting. You can start by saying that you are new in the neighborhood and still adjusting. Most people are interested to know why you moved and what it is like to live in the new neighborhood. Ask about his interests too, maybe you share the same passion.

How to make him your friend?

The conversation will eventually end. Ask him about any events in the neighborhood. You can probably ask about who you can talk to, to meet other people. If there is an association’s meeting, ask him when it is so that you can attend. This is a good opportunity to talk to your new friend again and meet more people. Maybe he can invite you to watch a game and hang out with his other friends. Friendships usually begins to blossom when you start hanging out.

If you really want to meet new friends, you need to work on it. You need to find them and let them know you exist. It is also important that you start to connect with them through an interesting conversation. Be ready to open yourself to them and try to get to know them better as well. And in order to make friends with the new people you meet, look forward to hanging out with them.
