Household interior design could well be described as an action of an individual to improve the interior of a structure to make it flow with the architecture, become more user friendly for the occupant, and look fantastic in the procedure.

This process should provide the home with a certain feel. Normally the job includes things adore putting on wall paper, choosing furniture, painting the walls, changing out the light fixtures, and adding separate decorations like paintings to the walls.

Normally this process is done by designers who are professionals in their trade, and sometimes even by architects. Believe it or not there is quite a difference between simply doing a little interior decoration and the procedure of interior design.

Whenever you are talking about interior decoration, you're talking about things like paint on the walls and new wall paper, you know thing that finish off the look of a household. The procedure of interior design is more in line with what happens during a major remodel love removing and replacing wall structures in the house, replacing cabinets, changing out the flooring, and other major undertakings in a home remodel.

Although the concept of household interior decoration evolved in Paris and London in the late 18th century, modern house interior decoration began with Jeanselme in Paris, Lenygon and Morant in London and Ogden Codman from New York. Like anything else that is fashionable, the concept of interior decoration has gone through many numerous trends and changes. Because of the current economy, the trend for interior decorators is to try and put together a theme that is attractive on a limited shoestring budget.

The whole objective of house interior decoration is to functionally improve the house and make it reflect your tastes and personality at the same time rendering it unique. This can be a real challenge in a lot of cases, but the pros and scientists in this art.

Back in the year 2003 it was approximated that individuals who own their houses spent around 175 billion dollars to improve their houses in one way or another. Of all that money around 65% is estimated to have been spent on interior decorating. Today all of the rage is geared toward sprucing up and expanding the kitchens in homes as well as fixing up the bathrooms with new fixtures and other accessories. Current trends also indicate that emphasis is being given to creating specialty rooms and areas for individual members of the family. Growing in popularity are massage suites, spa areas, media space, craft rooms, wine cellars and home library areas.

Living in luxury is equated by many people to mean that there is a lot of space in the household, but for a lot of individuals that have the money they are trading in all of that space for rooms that are built specifically for their needs and wishes.

Today there is a trending that goes away form the old loud colors of the past to more subtle earthly tones like the warm browns and beiges. Blue and gray hues are preferred today over dull reds and dark blues of the past.

With the whole "life styling" thing going on these days, it has been a real help to the industry. This has given rise to eclectic decorating styles which include High Tech and Shabby Chic replacing the appropriate old Victorian or Early American.

Instead of focusing on things like uniqueness and correct looks these days people are focusing more on harmonizing their environment and making it functional. It is a correct change in my opinion as getting something to be 100% unique is nearly impossible to achieve but things that are neat always are attractive and that neatness can easily be obtained through functionality.

There has been a larger change in interior home decoration over the last 15 year period than in the entire history of it. Keeping track of new trends is almost as essential as for a computer professional keeping track of new software or hardware.
