Most families are concerned about home security, safety and peace of mind in this day and age, and there are some very viable options that you can consider. In actuality, the type of home security system that you can get is only limited by your budget and your particular concerns. You can spend from a few dollars to several thousand dollars, or you can spend even more if you choose something that is state-of-the-art in home security.

However, there are some good options for those that are on a tight budget, and one of those options is a magnetic door alarm, which generally costs from $50 to $75. There will be two magnetic strips, one on each side of the door, and the alarm will go off when the connection is broken.

Door stop alarms and breakage alarms are also reasonably priced, and they are quite effective in going off when someone tries to break into your home. These two options can cost anywhere from $10 to $30, and you will not have a hard time installing them.

However, these systems are set to go off when someone attempts to break into your home, and they are not effective as a deterrent since the criminal will not know that they are installed. If you want more of a deterrent, you might want to opt for something that is more visible.

There are dummy home security systems that look very similar to the real deal, and they only cost a fraction of what real home security systems would cost. You can display a set of stickers, false cables and wiring, fake cameras with flashing LED lights, etc., and most criminals will not bother checking whether the system is real.

The fact is that most intruders are out to find the easy way into a home, and a possible home security system in place only complicates matters for them. Most criminal will probably avoid a home that has a security system in place, even if it is a fake one, as long as they do not know that you have a dummy system in place.

For those families who want the latest and best in home security, there are entire home security systems available, but they are much more difficult to install and much more expensive. A real intricate home security system with monitors, surveillance cameras, and motion detectors can set you back several thousand dollars, if not more, plus the price of installation.

You can always hire a security company, but you will have to pay a monthly fee, generally around $35 to $50, and you will probably have to pay an installation fee, unless the fee is waived. There are usually several packages available, and you will have to consult with home security companies to find a deal that is right for you.
