Instant hot water heaters, better known as tankless water heaters, were rarely made their entry in the US a few years ago. However, they soon became an essential home appliance as more and more home owners are insatalling them in their home. Instant hot water heaters got wide acceptability mainly due to the money home owners saved using it. Therefore, to buy a new energy saving instant hot water heater is a good option , if it is time to replace your old water heater.

Apart from energy cost they save every month, instant hot water heaters provide several other benefits to the user. First off, they heat water instantly. Even if there are number of users at a time youíll never run out of hot water!

Instant hot water heaters save energy by heating water only when you need hot water. This differentiates them from traditional tank heaters. With a traditional water tank, you are heating water 24 hours, 7 days a week, even if you need hot water or not. On this count alone some instant hot water heaters can save about 30 to 40% of energy cost every day.

Compact in built, instant hot water heaters run on gas or electricity. There are several considerations when it comes to purchasing an instant hot water heater that runs on gas or electricity. When it comes to cost, LP or natural gas fired heater is most cost efficient and the best choice. However itís also important to consider the purpose of choosing a particular type of water heater. Because tankless heaters offer you three main choices of heaters that serve your purpose.

The first, called the Single Point Application. This is used just for one fixture, such as a kitchen sink. The second is called a multi-point application where more than one heater is used in one room such as in a bathroom for a bathroom sink and a bathroom shower. The third is called the whole house application where a single heater is used for the entire house.

Keeping this in mind, it is widely accepted that a gas powered instant hot water heater is ideal for a whole house application, while for the other applications electric or gas depending on your preference. Before making the choice, make sure that you also check with your plumber to ensure that you have the proper gas setup and or electrical capacity for the tankless water heater that you choose.

The place you live is also an important factor in determining the right instant water heater you choose. It also help to decide what type of flow rate you will need in your heater. The colder the place you live, the greater the rise in temperature that is needed to heat the water up to your desired temperature.

Instant hot water heaters are costlier than traditional tank heaters. However, despite the higher upfront price, buying a tankless water heater is wiser as that will save the energy every month during its life time.

And therefore your investment on an instant hot water heater is always worth. So, if you bought a new house or your old water heater needed to be replaced, then think about the instant hot water heater option. Not only that its good it will help you save on your monthly energy bill but also, it is good for the environment.
