  2. Take away the clutter around your home. See to it that the house appears clean and organized. You can find more ideas on how your home should look through home magazines or the internet. Clear away tables, desks and countertops to show much space. Remove pictures from walls, shelves, and the fireplace mantle. Store unnecessary furniture somewhere else to create more living space.

  3. Improve the curb appeal of your property by trimming the hedges and mowing your lawn, repainting doors, cleaning windows, trims and walls in neutral shade, replacing outdated drapes and blinds, upgrading your windows and power washing or painting the exterior.

  4. Make small home repairs. Majority of buyers prefer a home that is in good condition where they can move in immediately.

  5. Learn the art of staging. Make the home smell fresh and airy, set the correct temperature, lit the rooms properly, arrange furniture in an appealing way, add several vases of flowers of tables, the dining table and on small fruit baskets, arranging the bookcases and items on the mantle to attract homebuyers.

  6. Use the internet in marketing your home. Put up ads on different home websites to help promote the house. Use your social media networks like Facebook, Twitter and others. You can send out copies of your home listing to your email list to find out if your friends know of anyone who is looking for a home to purchase in your place.

  7. Have a good real estate agent to help sell your home. In general, you would be better off leaving the selling to the experts. An agent can help sell your home quickly. However, you should choose an agent who has an extensive and long experience in selling; someone you feel comfortable with and should be able to prioritize what you need and what your preference is.

  8. Be creative in your selling process. Even in a buyer’s market, a house may still be very expensive for most people. If a buyer is in need of help in closing the deal, you could consider offering an option to push through with the deal, like offering to cover a part of the closing costs. This is especially effective to first time homebuyers.

  9. Stay away from the house on your open house day. Leave the house in the hands of your agent to handle the business. Your presence might make buyers feel awkward and hesitant to ask questions from your real estate agent. Buyers should feel that the home is theirs and this could be hard if you are there as a reminder to them that you own the house.

  10. Immediately reply to an offer. Usually, when a buyer makes an offer, that buyer could be in that instance ready to buy your home. Moods could change and you will lose a sale because you delayed in replying.
