The number of San Antonio distressed properties did not hinder the city’s chances of being included in RelocateAmerica.com’s top ten cities poised for recovery in 2010. The 13th annual list of the online resource’s “America’s Top 100 Places to Live for 2010″ saw San Antonio ranked fifth in the list of Recovery Cities.

The high number of distressed properties in Texas has not spared the city of San Antonio from the impact of the foreclosure crisis. However, the current ranking showed that only four other cities in the U.S. are in a better position than the Texas metropolis when it comes to expected recovery.

Aside from getting a high ranking in the list of cities expected to recover within the year, San Antonio was also ranked fifth overall in terms of the best cities to live in or relocate to in the U.S. The place is considered ideal for those looking for a change of residential location and those who are seeking to buy distressed homes for sale.

The number of San Antonio distressed properties might not be declining yet, but this did not stop the city from also having a high ranking among the top ten Retirement Cities as evaluated by RelocateAmerica.com. According to the online resource, San Antonio was ranked among the top recovery cities primarily because it has a diverse economy that would help it recover faster than other locations.

RelocateAmerica.com chose the cities included in the list based on nominations and reviews conducted by the web site’s editorial team. They also interviewed local officials, got feedback from city residents and evaluated data related to education, employment, crime, housing, the environment and the economy. In these categories, San Antonio performed relatively well, despite the number of distressed short sales happening in the area.

The problem of San Antonio distressed properties has yet to level off, but based on the ranking, the city will experience a housing market and an economic recovery before the current year ends. The news and the ranking have been enthusiastically welcomed by both local residents and the city government.
