Many people may not like growing garden organically. This is because this method of growing plants eliminates the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. This means it is more difficult to ensure the healthiness of the plants because the soil will be deprived of chemical fertilizers which effectively add nutrients to the soil. It will also be deprived of herbicide and pesticides, to eliminate your plant's competition as to nutrients. Hence, everything would be tedious as you would have to do planting in a natural way.

But organic gardening need not difficult to do. In fact, the natural way of growing plants can be done in few simple steps.

Here are some tips to do in growing your organic garden:

  1. Know the type of soil you have. In agricultural practices, this is important to determine the soil composition, its natural ph and other possible problems. Hence, if you have a home garden, you will know exactly if the type of plant you want to grow will be able to survive. At the same time, you will also determine possible contaminants that could be a health threat.

  2. If your soil lacks nutrients, you can revive it with the use of compost. Compost is a natural fertilizers built from kitchen scraps, garden wastes, manure, soil and water. This is a great way to have your own supply of fertilizers; hence, you get to save tons of money from buying them.

  3. When you have analyzed and enriched the soil, the next step is to know what plants to grow. Since you already have an idea about your soil profile, you will now know if it is feasible to grow the kind of plants you want to grow.

  4. After knowing the type of plants to grow, you can go through with the plot building, digging of furrows and sowing of seeds. Once this has been done, you need to ensure there is enough water for your plants. If you have a bigger land area, it would be more efficient on your part to use a sprinkler.

  5. After you have done the planting proper, you need to control weeds and pests in a natural way. This is important since weeds compete with plant nutrients and pests weaken their structures and eventually kill them. There are many ways to do this. Some of the methods are:

    • Learn the art of mulching.
    • Know homemade natural concoctions that can be used as natural pesticides.
    • Remove weeds on the first signs of growth. Do not wait for them to multiply.
    • Constantly monitor the plants for first signs of infestation.

Doing these things religiously can help you grow your plants without problems.

Making an organic garden wasn't that hard to make right? It is a challenge and could possibly need some extra work but it could be worth it in the end. You will have a better looking garden and a much safer one. Hence, the whole family would enjoy the garden or even eat its fruits without risking one's health.
