The burden of Anderson foreclosure auctions is not being lightened by the fraudulent operations of some foreclosure rescue firms operating in the state of Indiana, according to real estate market analysts. Recently, the state’s Attorney General has filed a lawsuit against a California-based company that allegedly scammed a state homeowner.
Attorney General Greg Zoeller has filed a lawsuit against USA Mortgage Aid Inc., a foreclosure consultancy firm, for alleged fraudulent activities in relation to a homeowner from Saint Joseph County. Zoeller also claimed that such illegal activities will not end as long as the problem of foreclosed homes for sale in Indiana exists.
According to reports, the company scammed the home owner out of $1,700. The Attorney General has stated that the residential property crisis and the economic recession have produced more financial scams than ever before, with unscrupulous businesses taking advantage of troubled borrowers.
In the lawsuit, Zoeller accused USA Mortgage Aid of deceiving consumers and of violating Indiana consumer protection laws. The company allegedly demanded up-front payment for services that were not performed and were not bonded.
The lawsuit has far-reaching implications and also affects local conditions, such as the issue of Anderson foreclosure auctions and other foreclosure concerns in different cities of the state. Companies like USA Mortgage, according to reports, continue to take advantage of desperate homeowners who are trying to find ways to retain their residences.
The Attorney General’s office has also reported that over 300 homeowners have filed complaints against foreclosure consultancy firms since 2009. The complaints were filed with the Homeowner Protection Unit, the agency responsible for investigating the activities of consultancies, appraisers, licensees and other operations that focus on problems related to homeowners who have had their residences included in the lists of foreclosed homes for sale.
The Attorney General has warned homeowners, including those who own houses under Anderson foreclosure auctions, not to trust consultancy firms that advertise their foreclosure services in the Internet, television and newspapers unless they have totally checked out the legitimacy of these companies.
