A sofa table is a great addition to any room. When a sofa is arranged so that its back faces the room, the sofa table softens the line of the sofa back and adds interest to an otherwise uninterrupted expanse of fabric. While you can also use your sofa table between your couch and a wall, you might want to experiment with it in other areas of your home to add a little interest there as well.

  1. Entryway If it had not been invented to be placed behind a sofa, the sofa table would surely have been called the foyer table. It is the perfect height and width to use in an entryway. Generally it has a shelf underneath where you can store briefcases, purses, or even boots, while resting mail and your keys on the tabletop. By hanging a hat rack close by and a mirror over the table, you have a fully functional and stylish foyer.

  2. Kitchen If you have an older home without a kitchen island, you can use a sofa table to take its place. It is about counter height, and it makes the perfect, portable work area. By covering it in ceramic tile or high gloss paint, you can make the table durable and easy to clean.

  3. Headboard If you want to add a shelf behind a full size bed, a sofa table is the perfect solution. Simply place it between the bed and the wall, and you have an instant headboard/shelf. Rest pictures along the back of the table for interest, and you can add a lamp, alarm clock and radio to the table. Now everything is handy, and you do not need side tables in the room. This is a great way to make a small guestroom feel larger.

  4. Activity Table Paint your sofa table a bright color with high gloss paint and add a couple of bar stools. Now you have the perfect homework or activity area for your children to work and play.

  5. Dining Room If you have a small dining room, you can use a sofa table for your buffet. Since it has a slim profile, the sofa table makes the space seem larger. You can cover it with a tablecloth or simply leave it open, so that you can use the shelf and drawers for storage. You can store silverware and serving pieces and use it for serving.

  6. Craft Room In a craft room, the sofa table can also work for your craft table. Simply place a barstool for comfortable seating, and you can use the sofa table as the perfect workspace.

  7. Laundry Room Since a sofa table is about counter height, it is perfect for folding clothes. You can also cover it with a heat resistant pad or even thick towels; it can also double as an ironing board for you.
