If you are just sick and tired of looking at the same old, tired living room, why not wake it up with the infusion of some color. By adding splashes of color throughout the room, you can give the space an entirely different look, and you can really bring the room to life, while adding energy and interest. It is also a great way to showcase your focal points as you highlight special architectural elements, special features of your dеcor or your favorite wall art.

Bold Palettes
While there is a whole variety of paint colors available for you to use in your room, you will want to choose colors that add vibrancy to the space. Think of warm colors like oranges and reds, and pair them with shades of brown. This earthy palette will make a lively room that still has an inviting and cozy feel to it.

If you want to go in the other direction, you can choose blues and greens and couple them with shades of gray to create a soothing and restful room. This color combination will create a sanctuary that promotes calmness and tranquility.

If you ramp up the tone of the color, then any of these colors whether it is red or blue will ramp up the energy in the room. You can saturate the room with color or choose a focal wall for your color, and finish the space off with crisp, white trim and accents.

Accessorize Boldly
If going bold with your wall color is just a little too much of a commitment for you, then you can keep your walls fairly neutral and add your dramatic colors with your accessories. You may choose to upholster or slipcover, a piece of furniture in your accent color, or you may have a beautiful artwork on the wall with vibrant colors. An area rug can add a splash of color to your room, and when you are tired of that particular color palette, you can simply switch out your accessories and easily make over your room.

Try Going Bold
Generally it is a good idea to keep a pretty tight color palette with no more than three colors; however if you look at a summer garden, it is filled with beautiful colors. So if you want to include a cacophony of colors in your room the easiest way to make sure that they all go together is to keep them all the same tone. For example, don’t mix bold colors with pastels; instead, use one or the other. So if you chose bold colors, you could use any color as long as it was bold, and they would look fine together. Another way to choose a rich and colorful color palette is to use a fabric or a painting that you love for inspiration. Even if you have no experience with color, this is a fairly safe way to use a lot of different colors and have them work together.
