Fewer Buyers of Triplex Foreclosures for Sale As Homeowners Remodel

Houston homeowners are busier remodeling their homes than buying new ones. Sales of dwellings, including triplex foreclosures for sale, single family houses and other types of residences, have declined as more households decide to renovate.

Home remodeling companies have reported that instead of looking at Houston foreclosure auctions for a new home, homeowners are spending their money on remodeling what they already have. Most owners admitted that they are upgrading not because they are planning to sell their home but because they plan on staying in it for a long time.

Home auctions in Texas have enjoyed considerable sales during the months leading to the April deadline of the federal tax incentive, but with prices slowly appreciating and mortgages becoming hard to acquire, homeowners in the state are more likely to stay in their old homes than consider selling them and buying a new one.

Growing families have also opted to expand or upgrade their homes instead of buying a new and bigger one. According to them, buying triplex foreclosures for sale or other bigger dwellings to accommodate family expansions would cost more. They stated that renovation costs for an already existing family residence are considerably lower than the expenses that will be incurred in buying a new place.

According to remodeling firms, small jobs are more common in the city than massive reconstruction projects, with kitchen and bathroom renovations being the most popular. Installing windows that help save energy is also a common request from homeowners, companies have added.

Remodelers welcome the increased number of jobs, but they did warn those who prefer to remodel rather than buy foreclosures for sale that renovating will mean being inconvenienced by the construction activity for several weeks. Despite having to sacrifice for a few weeks, remodeling firms believe that most homeowners who undergo renovations can get back almost 70% of their renovation costs should they decide to sell their homes.

The number of households willing to buy triplex foreclosures for sale or bigger dwellings to accommodate a growing family has declined. Most Houston homeowners are instead opting to renovate their existing homes to provide rooms for newcomers in the family.
