Water Filtration System 101

There are two primary kinds of system you can choose, the first of which is the faucet-mounted system. This option is the cost-efficient and economical alternative which you can easily install. You however need to make frequent and regular filter change in order to ensure that it thoroughly works or functions. The other system is the in-line type which is installed or mounted directly to the plumbing system of your house. This type of filtration is much costlier than the former however it is more reliable and only requires occasional changes in your filter.

In the initial process of evaluating your water source, it is important to take note of the results particularly if it comes back with pesticides, chloroform, chlorine or organic chemicals. This means that you have secure NSF-certified filtration systems using carbon filters. Take note however that this type of filter is that effective when it comes to purifying your water against heavy metals like lead or other microbial contaminants.

The best alternative to get especially if your water contains substances such as ferrous iron, sodium, fluoride, organic contaminants, lead or nitrate is to get in-line filtering system using reverse-osmosis methods. If however you have water source with high calcium count, you are required to avail water softener systems especially made for hard water.

Make sure that you also choose an option which will surely help you with the maintenance of the system. Choose ones with performance indication device or cutoff meter. This will help you determine the time when it is necessary to have the filter change.
