Home improvement is part of our aestheticism or our love to look at beauty. Everyone likes to be beautiful or likes to stay in beautiful places. Your homes are the first places here on earth that you would like to look beautiful. And in questing for this desire, you will look for ways to improve your home the best way you can. There are many ways though, to do this.

In improving your home the ideal place to start is the walls. The walls will set the mood and theme of house interiors and can give a striking effect. It can set a pleasing ambiance or a dull one. Depending on your choice, it will also reveal your personality as a homeowner. Nevertheless, doing your walls first gives you two choices whether to opt for paint or wall paper. Both have advantages and disadvantages though.

To help you decide, the following comparison will give you and idea:
Paint is the most common way of putting color on your walls. There are several types of paints available in the market; with their advantages and disadvantages e.g. latex paints come in three finishes: the glossy, stained and flat. This kind of paint is easily applied; it is non-flammable because they are water based. The latex is best for concrete painting. Another type of paint is the oil-based. This kind is known for its being stain-resistant and uses no prime coating to apply.

Painting walls can be very taxing, that is why you have to choose the right kind of paint to use. In painting rooms, you must first determine what the room will be used for, what activities will be done there so that you can match the right kind of paint to use to stand the rigidness of the activities in the room.

The disadvantages of using paint is that it is more expensive than wall paper, involves lots of preparation before application, is quite messy if you are a careless painter, and worst it needs mixing to achieve the right color you want. It also needs drying time before you can use the area.

A faster way to redesign your walls is the wallpaper. This material is very ideal for the aesthete type of person since it comes in many different colors and patterns. The walls usually come out elegant in these materials. This kind of material is easy to use; there is not much hassle in its application. There is no mixing required, no primer coating needed, and no messy spillage to worry about.

The disadvantage of using wallpaper on the other hand is that they are difficult to use in an uneven surface. You need to be a little bit crafty to make them look good. Maintenance is also another drawback for wallpapers. Replacing torn wallpapers can be a very challenging task because there is a chance that your design may no longer be available in the market, so you will have to redesign the whole area again with a new design. Humidity, moisture and condensation are a bane to wallpaper. They can easily cause separation and stain your designs. But if your walls are properly insulated, then you can forget about this kind of problems.
So, there you are. Which will you prefer paint or wallpaper? Your walls, your choice, your decision. Good luck!
