There will be an 18 month delay in completed the landmark Infinity Towers in Dubai, which will now complete construction in 2011, it has been confirmed.
Although no official reasons have been put forward for the delay, the shortage of qualified and experienced labor, and rising cost of construction makes this announcement unsurprising.

The original completion date for the 330 metre twisting tower in the Dubai property market was supposed to be quarter 2 in 2010 but Drake & Scull, the projects contractors have confirmed that date has now been pushed back. A spokesman for the company rejected the opportunity to comment on what has caused the delay.

Khaldoun Tabari, chief executive of Drake & Scull International stated 'We are delighted that work has re-started on Infinity Tower, a project we are proud to be part of,' The building, which twists from its base creating a spiral-shaped structure, is destined to be one of the area's most striking buildings when complete.

The project is designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the same architect that was behind the Burj Dubai. The construction company Arabtec is building the tower and the project and cost manager for the scheme is British firm Currie & Brown.

This residential apartment tower covering a total of 75 floors will rotate by 1.2 degrees to achieve a full 90 degrees spiral, creating a helix shape. When finally completed, the development will be the tallest tower to twist by 90 degrees.
Infinity Towers in Dubai was voted the best architecture in the world at the 2006 International Property Awards in London.

Included in the tower will be a health spa, a rooftop park, conference rooms, a gymnasium, a cigar-room, a fully equipped nursery, and other on-site facilities.
