When you’re really motivated to sell a home, it can be discouraging when the market just doesn’t bring you a lot of serious buyers. This is the time for you to ramp up your marketing technique with new and interesting strategies that bring your home the attention it needs to sell.

Business cards featuring a good picture of the home, the MLS number of the listing and the Realtor’s ® phone number are great to hand out to family and friends. A good idea is to include a message such as “The Sims are selling their home in Neighbourhood, City, Province/State! 3 br 2 ba, large yard, workshop. Call 123-456-7890 for details or go to MLS listing 12345 at MLS.ca/com”.

Try for an even more creative approach by buying a quantity of magnets, stickers, notepads, pencils, pens, key chains and other inexpensive novelty items with your home’s information on them. Give them out freely and enthusiastically. Make them bright and colourful so that people will use them - and hopefully take note of the printed information.

Print out T-shirts on the same bright and colourful theme with your house’s information on them. It’s a free T-shirt - someone will wear it. The very fact that you’re giving away free T-shirts could do more for your home marketing campaign than the T-shirts themselves. (This could backfire if people are still wearing them a year after you’ve sold the house. Maybe the Realtor ® can sell them another one.)

Did you know that you can have wrappers for candy and chocolate printed with your information on them? Do a search online to find out where you can buy these online. Most people love free food and candy is even better! Also the novelty of a specially-printed wrapper will be interesting for people who wouldn’t look twice at the average real estate advertisement.

A personalized website that links to your home’s MLS page, your Realtor’s ® website and any other interesting links (such as to city information) can be a good investment. You don’t have to go overboard; just buy a domain name for a few dollars, such as 123AnyroadCity.com and attach it to a free website account.

This is by no means an exhaustive list of what you can do to creatively market your home. You just want to get that information out there. Think of your hobbies and your chosen activities and see what you can come up with to market your home!
