Even if you are an amateur without prior knowledge on all the technicalities of plumbing jobs and repairs, it is still possible to repair your bathroom faucet through do-it-yourself kits. There are easy to use and easy to understand instructional manuals that help and guide you through the step by step replacement of these salient bathroom fixtures.

First, the right selection of bathroom faucet to replace the old and malfunctioning ones is a vital technique to an effective and surefire fixture. There are innumerable types of faucets available in the market today. These types also feature different qualities and functions for your bathroom hence you must know what perfectly fit the old faucet to replace.

Faucets vary in terms of sizes, types and style, which is why you need to make an exact measurement of the ones you actually need in order to save you time, money and effort. One way of gauging the right measurement is through measuring the faucet center to center or for a more surefire solution, you could remove the old faucet and bring it to the store in purchasing the new one for replacement.

Along with choosing the right faucet type, you must also prepare and secure the right tools for the job. Providing the right tools and equipment will definitely make your job much easier and faster especially in removing stubborn, rusted and old faucets. Some of the most common tools to include in your kit are the two pipe wrenches, one for turning and another for holding. You must also provide adjustable, vise grip, closet spud and open-end wrenches.

In removing or replacing the faucet, one basic rule of thumb is to basically turn off the main water supply switch and loosen the nuts through the use of your adjustable wrench. Disconnect the old faucet and detach it from the water supply pipe while working on the old faucet assembly and removing it. Wipe and clean all the areas surrounding the bathroom faucet mount.

In installing the new faucet, make sure you also turned off the main water supply and before you install the new fixture, apply the plumberís putty securing the base not unless the gaskets are provided. The new fixture setscrew must be loose before you slide the new one on. Tighten and secure the setscrew using clockwise direction and apply the caulk in between the faucet and the shower wall. Use a wet cloth in wiping off the extra caulks and wait for a day to ensure the caulk is completely dried.

After replacing your bathroom faucet, it is high time to enjoy the fruits and output of your work through enjoying your bathroom activities and shower. This do-it-yourself home project will definitely make a remarkable outcome in your life.
