Another thing to regularly check is the condition of the cooling fins. Are the cooling fins of your air condition bent? This could be another way to interfere with the movement of the air resulting to harder working air condition. Cooling fins are made from fine strips of aluminum so that they are easily bent.
Fortunately, you can simply straighten them out through the use of cooling fins combs. Fins combs can be purchased in hardware stores or even home improvement shops. Still, you can also make use of Popsicle sticks in order to straighten out your cooling fins.
However, if the cooling fins have been damaged beyond repaired, simply have them replaced. Cooling fins cost only a few dollars. This would be preferable than spending a costly service call should the equipment fail altogether.
Lastly, regularly replace the filter which is located in the intake vent. The regular basis for replacing this is once in every thirty days. However, if you have pets freely roaming the interiors of your house, or if one member of your family has hypersensitivity to dust or pollen, you may have to change the filter more often than just thirty days.
The regular filters cost a few dollars only but there are also expensive ones. The more costly filters can be washed so you can use them again.
