How our home looks is important. This is why we consider all options when deciding what to use on it. In terms of exterior walls, many are undecided whether to use paint or vinyl siding. Both are viable options of course, however, you have to make a few considerations before picking one that suits you best.

Many love to use vinyl because it lasts longer. In fact, if you are to use it, you do not have to worry about painting your home again. Vinyl does not fade nor does it peal. This means that it can possibly last forever. In addition to that, it does not require a lot of maintenance. Once you put it up, you do not have to do anything major to it. It does not require any complex maintenance requirements as well. If you need to clean it, just use water and detergent. Do not worry; water will not damage your vinyl.

There are also several designs available in the market. This gives you more options and flexibility. There are designs that can mimic wood and other effects for the exterior of your home. This means that you will surely be able to achieve the look you want for your home.

However, you should also check some of the drawbacks of vinyl. First, they are from polyvinyl chloride or PVC resin, which are suspected to cause cancer. It may be safe when installed in your home but it can be toxic when disposed. In addition to that, many suspect its negative effects on human health during its production. This is yet to be proved though. Contrary to that, many say that vinyl siding is environmentally friendly because its production does not require a lot of materials.

You can also paint your wall. This also offers a lot of flexibility because there are several paint colors available in the market. You can also mix and match paint and come up with the desired color. You can also be more artistic with it by drawing some line and curves.

Paint is also cheaper and you do not have to worry about its harmful effects, as the components of paints are now safer. You can also check the label for possible lead contents. There are also greener paints. There are paints that can eliminate pollutants in the surroundings. Choose from the many eco-friendly paints available in the market today.

Moreover, paint can help bring out the natural beauty of your home. You will get to appreciate its different texture and forms.

However, paint is more time consuming and will require more work compared to vinyl. In addition to that, paint can easily fade. You will need to apply a fresh coat after a few years to give your home that fresh look.

Vinyl works for most homeowners because it eliminates the different maintenance requirements. However, some are more comfortable with paint because they can have more artistic freedom. In addition to that, paint can reveal the natural beauty of their home too.
