House hunters in Greenville, South Carolina can find out so much more about their prospective home thanks to an online initiative recently launched by the City of Greenville.

An interactive mapping application on the city's website called 'Where's My House' allows users to type in the address of a property, and find out instantly whether it falls within the city boundary. If it does, it naturally qualifies for City Services. Not only will potential buyers be assured that it will receive the standard services, as provided by the city of Greenville, but they can discover multiple details about the neighborhood.

Once a desired address is typed into the search bar, an aerial photograph appears on screen, with the requested property clearly labeled in the center. Pictured alongside this image is a caption reporting whether the address is within the county, or in the city. A selection of options appears in a side bar, allowing for further information to be displayed. Simple clicks on the mouse quickly illustrate the location of all fire hydrants within a 500 feet radius of the property, highlight any flood zones, and show all individual property boundaries.

This innovative technology also provides such information as the name of the area's council representative, and on which day the garbage is collected. A printable map and report of the area can be downloaded as a .pdf, allowing the user to compile information about a number of properties or neighborhoods.

Another useful search tool found on the City of Greenville is the Parcel Search. This highly useful facility enables one to enter an address, and immediately an aerial image showing the property appears on the screen and alongside it, information pertaining to the property. Here you will find the zip code, tax district code, ownership history and home assessment history as well as the number of bedrooms, bathrooms and overall property square footage.

This excellent new amenity means that those searching for homes or commercial property within the city of Greenville can now discover a wealth of information in the early stages of a search. Obviously, it is also extremely useful for new and established residents, who can research their neighborhood from the comfort of their home.
