With the heat really rising, the home air conditioning becomes our best friend to provide us the cool we need from the scorching heat. But as much as we need to keep on using the air conditioner, we want to be practical since it costs a lot of money to run them every day. It is also very bad for the natural environment because of the Freon. So just how can we keep our home cool with no need of using air conditioning?

Houses near trees are the coolest since trees are natural shades from the sun. But not many houses are constructed near a tree. Actually, people mistakenly cut trees that stand near the house since it takes a great effort to clean the fallen leaves and make the house vulnerable to intruders who can climb trees. However, trees cool homes without air conditioning.

However, if you live in an apartment building or in the city, but would still like to cool your home without air conditioning, big plants also serve the same purpose. Place plants around the house both indoors and outdoors especially near windows. Here are some other suggestions to cool your home:

  1. You can add heat insulator in your attic to lessen the heat coming into your home from the roof. This is a very good investment to place in your home. It also increases the value of your home.

  2. Open windows welcome natural wind and that is refreshing. You may also want to install heat reflecting film on your window to keep the heat of the sun. You can also put dark curtains on glass windows that can cover the sunís rays. It is also a good idea not to use paint colors that reflect the sun too much that emits heat. Light colors for example takes in heat while dark colors do not as much since they absorb light.

  3. Rather than using air conditioning, use a fan or an electric fan. They keep homes cool at the fraction of cost in electricity. Have fans handy everywhere in the house. Just fan away when you are feeling the heat.

  4. Electric appliance can bring heat inside the home, too. Once we turn the stove or the microwave, they can generate much heat inside the home. Maximize the time you need to use them. And make sure they are not left on for a very long time. Even a boiling pot can produce heat and add to the high temperature inside the home. Incandescent light also do not help so do not turn them if you really do not need to.

  5. You should always have available cool drinks for everyone. It quenches thirst and keeps everyone cool and quiet. Make sure the small kids wear cool clothes. They may feel the heat, but when they drink something cold, they are less likely t o complain about the heat as much.

Air conditioning truly cools home, but you can try to do these suggestions to keep your home cool naturally and cost efficient.
