An American title company has recently announced the launch of a mobile service for smartphones, including BlackBerry and Android. First American Title Insurance Co. has stated that its AgentFirst application can be downloaded for free.

The service was first launched in April and can be downloaded for free at the iTunes App Store. It was designed to provide real estate industry professionals and lenders with access to data on ownership and property covering 97% of real property transactions in the U.S.

According to First American, those who have availed themselves of the AgentFirst service in their mobiles can search for property addresses on the go and access data and information on various properties, transactions and tax concerns. Real estate agents can also place escrow and title orders using their AgentFirst-powered mobile phones.

Real estate industry professionals have welcomed the launch of the service, stating that mobile services have changed the landscape of real property transactions. Some agents have also stated that the AgentFirst service makes it easier for them to conduct research and complete orders while they are on the road.

The decision of the American title company to launch the application has also been lauded by other industry members. The fact that the number of mobile computing device users in the country has reached almost 50 million as of the 2010 second quarter made the service even more significant, particularly among professionals who work in a field like real estate which requires constant access to information.

Officials from First American have revealed that since the introduction of the application for iPhone last April, customers have been clamoring for the company to establish a similar service for BlackBerry and Android devices. The firm has added that the release of the service provides First American with opportunities to offer innovative solutions to their clients, majority of whom rely on mobile technologies.

The recent launch of the service is considered great timing for the American title company, with market shares for BlackBerry and Android devices continuing to increase. Data showed that BlackBerry accounts for more than 40% of the market for mobile service users.
