It’s important to put in due diligence when selecting the right kind of carpet flooring for your home. In fact, there are only a few aspects that you need to consider when choosing the carpet flooring for your home.

When it comes to selecting a style, cut pile and loop pile are both great options. They both have their own specific advantages and disadvantages - and it’s important to keep your specific needs in mind when deciding between these two styles.

Loop pile has smaller loops and is made by using individual yarn strands that come through the backside of the carpet twice.

On the other hand, cut pile carpet’s loop cut is towards the upper side of the strand and leaves the standing point of the yarn tufts up. This kind of styling provides slightly less durability than loop pile styling. Velvet carpets, Saxony, shag and textured are some well known examples of this kind of styling. While sisal, cable and berber are some popular examples of loop pile carpeting. If your carpet will be in an area that gets a lot of foot traffic, then carpet with loop pile styling is the right option for you because it is more durable.

Apart from styling and design, material is another important factor you need to consider when selecting carpet flooring for your home. There are several options typically and each option has its own drawbacks and benefits.

If you can afford it, wool carpeting is the way to go. Wool is the best when it comes to style, design and durability. With the right maintenance, it may last for more than fifteen years.

Another material is acrylic. It tends to be less prone to staining. However, it can’t withstand too much foot traffic.

Another impressive, but expensive option is olefin. It works nicely for both interior and exterior carpeting. Olefin is easy to clean but it also cannot withstand a lot of foot traffic.

If you are looking for a great all-around carpet, nylon will serve you well. Nylon is the number one choice for carpet, and has been for quite awhile. It has better durability than other carpet material options, excellent stain-resistance, and is one of the most cost-effective options available.
