The number of homes for sale by owner (FSBO) in various areas of the U.S. has increased during the year compared with previous periods. The National Association of Realtors has reported that in 2009, only 11% of home sellers in the whole U.S. sold their properties without the help of real estate agents or realtors.

The rise in the number of FSBO has been attributed by housing experts to the presence of helpful technology that allows sellers to access information that only property agents have access before.
