Septic systems are very important for a home because it manages our liquid wastes at home, which new produce every day. Without such systems, our yard would be filled with filth and disgusting liquid forms, which will not only cause problems in the environment but will also threaten the health of the homeowners as well as that of their neighbors. This is why it is important that septic tanks be properly installed and maintained.

The septic system manages the liquid wastes from homes. It processes them to make them tolerable for the environment. Anything that goes into the septic system is processed. Here, the different forms of waste are segregated. The heavier particles go at the bottom of the tank while the lighter ones float on the water surface. In the middle, rests the relatively clear water that contains bacteria and chemicals that will break the organic matter in the wastewater. The processed water will then go to the drainfield, and is slowly absorbed by the ground.

The proper installation of the septic system

Several considerations have to be made before installing a septic system. First, you have to decide the size of the septic system. How large will it be? This will depend on the number of people living in that house. The number of people living in the house would determine the gallons of water waste that house produces in a day. It is essential that the septic tank built will be able to accommodate such amount of waste.

In addition to the size, the location of the tank is crucial too. It should not be in the way of the rainwater. If there is no other space, then you have to find a way to redirect the flow of the rainwater. You can also create roofing in that area to help keep the area dry. Water might enter the tank and fill it rapidly.

You should also check the soil before the installation. Make sure that it is dry. If you install the system when the ground is wet, the system will be damaged easily.

The proper maintenance of your septic system

The said system is very valuable at home, this is why it is essential that you take care of it. You can do so by conserving water. This will reduce the load of liquid waste that the system would process. This will be able to do its job more effectively. Aside from the amount of waste that enters the tank, you should also check the plants near it regularly. The roots of the tree can severely damage the system.

You should also be careful of what you flush. Do not use it as trash bins for diapers, sanitary napkins and other materials that are impossible to process. Aside from clogging, this will fill the tank easily and it will not be able to function well.

Septic systems are important parts of the house. This is why its installation is carefully planned. In addition to that, you have to maintain it properly so that you can benefit from it for a long time.
