The bedrooms are one of the defining spaces of the home. There are place that needs to be happy and vibrant, highly personalized, yet also conducive to relaxation. If you're looking to create a siesta-space that is visually congruent with the rest of a bright, festive Southwest Mexican rustic home decor house, we've got some easy tips to help you start.

The bed...

Go for a wrought iron headboard and an iron bed frame to be consistent with the rest of the furniture choices in your Mexican decor home; or, if you're worried about the bed frame getting hot in the sun, go for a hand-hewn wooden frame for the Southwest Mexican rustic home decor feel.

The colors...

Carry through the color scheme from the rest of the house into the bedroom. Bright blues, deep terracottas, dark greens and sunset pinks can all dominate in a Southwest Mexican decor bedroom. Even if you're married or share a bedroom with an opposite sex partner, don't be afraid to introduce ''gendered' colors into your bedroom. Pinks and blues are equally adored by Mexican men and women.

The mirror...

If you don't already have a big mirror in your bathroom, the bedroom is the place to put one. Mexican tin mirrors are a gorgeous and very authentic design element of Mexican decor in the bedroom... grab a top-to-toe mirror and indulge in the feeling of space that it creates in your bedroom.

The lighting...

Go for de-centralized lighting in your Mexican decor bedroom, using rustic sconce light covers in wrought iron.

The artwork...

Go for desert themes and festive scenes if you prefer realistic paintings for the artwork in your Southwest decor bedroom. Alternatively, use bold geometric patterned canvases. These are easy to create yourself, even with little to no artistic skill!

The flooring...

As with the rest of your Southwest decor home, bare wooden flooring with brightly colored and geometrically patterned rugs is recommended.

Accessorizing...

Blue rim Mexican glassware: Glassware is a showpiece in Mexican decor, and there's no reason that all those gorgeously colored drinking glasses should be confined to your kitchen! Mexico is hot, so why not pop a drinking glass beside your bed?

Talvera Pottery: Indulge in fresh flowers or dried grasses in talvera pottery as accessories in your Mexican siesta-space.

In general, don't be afraid to accessorize in your bedroom if you're after a Mexican feel. The southwest design method is very eclectic and natural, and definitely not averse to a little clutter.

Southwest Mexican rustic home decor translates just as beautifully to the bedroom space as to the rest of the house, and is actually very easy to integrate!
