The number of foreclosed commercial and residential properties in Illinois is still growing in number despite the efforts of the federal and state governments to help distressed borrowers. Sadly, programs to provide incentives to homeowners and lenders have yielded underwhelming results.

Almost all cities in Illinois are suffering from high foreclosure rate. Finding a foreclosed home in Elgin IL as well as in other cities and counties, such as Cook County and Southland, is not difficult since most neighborhoods are blighted with numerous repossessed properties.

The worse thing is that it is quite obvious the foreclosure mess does not discriminate. Even homeowners who never thought of facing the risk of foreclosure are finding themselves living in their worst nightmare. Most put their properties in the market as Illinois foreclosures for sale or foreclosed commercial and try to sell them as soon as possible.

The high unemployment rate is also a factor in the enduring crisis. Some locals have found it difficult to find a job and settled with becoming foreclosure counselors or field foreclosure coordinators. Of course, the said job is quite hard for most of them since it entails knocking on doors of troubled borrowers and hearing their sad stories. Although they come to provide information regarding free help, it was still difficult.

The characters may be different, but the stories are the same anywhere you go. Borrowers suffering from financial difficulties due to the death of their husband or wife or job loss are the most at risk of losing their home in a foreclosure sale. The decision to fight for their home is actually becoming more difficult with each day and many give up and simply walk away.

With the economy still sluggish and unstable, plenty of local businesses are also having some of the offices ending up as foreclosed commercial.
