Most homeowners have a list of home renovations or repair that they would like to address especially with the New Year. Although it is difficult to determine which should be prioritized, the topmost consideration is budget.

Since the country is in the throes of one of the worst financial crisis in decades, it is not surprising that a lot of homeowners have been putting off any form of home construction or home addition. Even home repairs have been put off.

The biggest problem with putting off home repairs is that it could lead to even worse problems. So before they get worse, you should find out which among the repairs can no longer wait.

  1. Water Problems – leaks, condensation and other water-related problems should be addressed immediately. They can cause much damage in a short time and could seriously cost you a lot of money.

  2. Septic Tank and Sewage System – in addition to the possible high cost of repairing a much-damaged sewage system, you will also be exposing your family to health risks. If you do not want to be displaced from your home since serious sewage problems can be inconvenient, you should address them at once.

  3. Molds – for health reasons, you should never put off taking care of mold problems. It would be wise to call in an expert to take care of this particular problem.

  4. Electrical Wirings – again, failure to address wiring problems could mean serious consequences for your family and your home. Hiring an experienced and licensed electrician is recommended.

  5. Smoke Detectors – for safety reasons, it is important that your smoke detectors are all working properly. It could really mean the difference between life and death.

On the other hand, problems involving punctured gutters, peeled paint and broken appliance can wait.
