Memphis Tennessee has long been a popular tourist destination in the southwest for many good reasons. The same reasons that draw people to visit the beautiful city are bringing in home buyers as well who love it so much here that they can't bear to leave.

Memphis is like a little slice of paradise in the middle of Tennessee. With the Mississippi River languidly flowing on by the city and the temperature in the subtropical range, Memphis is a comfortable living environment.

Memphis is for many people a Mecca of music, not surprising as it is the location of Elvis Presley's home, Graceland. Graceland sees over half a million visitors a year who come through the gates to pay homage to the late King of Rock and Roll. In fact, Graceland is the second most visited house in America next to the White House.

Many other influential musicians also got their start in this musical city at the Sun Studio, like Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, and Roy Orbison. Though still a functioning recording studio, tours of Sun Studio and attached museum are available. For those wishing to enjoy live music, Beale Street is a great location; the streets are lined with performers and there are many clubs and bars to hear musicians play at. Not surprisingly, Beale Street is the single most popular attraction in Tennessee.

There are many other great reasons to come and visit Memphis like the yearly festivals. Memphis in May includes a whole month of events including the Beale Street Music Festival, the World Championship Barbeque Cooking Contest, and the Sunset Symphony. The month of June is when the city plays host to a variety of parties and festivals that are part of Carnival Memphis.

The city also has a selection of other attractions including the National Civil Rights Museum where Martin Luther King Jr was assassinated, the Brooks Museum of Art, the Memphis Zoo, a Botanical Garden, and Mud Island which has a fabulous model of the Mississippi River around the Memphis area.

Memphis isn't just all fun and games though; it is also home to nine Fortune 1000 companies including FedEx headquarters and International Paper. The entertainment industry is also active in the city of Memphis and has filmed numerous movies in the area. Much of the draw for companies to come to Memphis comes from the prime location for shipping due to the railways and proximity to the river.

Memphis is a beautiful city with a lot of interesting features to keep people coming here to visit; why not slow down and consider moving here to take advantage of all the excitement and wonder year round?
