One of the considerations people make when they want to improve the value of their property is to install a pool. This may be a very viable option, but a lot of home buyers are opting it out. Although not all buyers would not want to have a pool in their backyard, most of the buyers don’t. This is because of the different disadvantages it brings. Before deciding if you should install a pool, check its various advantages and disadvantages first.

Having a pool has a lot of benefits. One is that it provides a great venue to exercise. Swimming is one of the best ways to stay in shape. Aside from that, you can have fun while you move your muscles. It is refreshing too. If you have children, you can easily teach them how to swim.
This is also a great way to bond with them.

A pool is also a nice venue to hang out with your friends. You do not have to go out because a pool in your backyard is a great way to have fun with them. You can host a party because you are sure that they will have a great time by the pool.

You can also have a private time there if you want. If you want to unwind after a tiring day in the office, you can just get in your swim wear and swim a couple of rounds. That will surely reduce the stress from work and will prepare you for a good night sleep.

Although having a pool has several benefits, there are also disadvantages. One of the major concerns of parents have is safety. There are multiple cases of unattended children drowning in the pool. Parents can set house rules and tell their children to stay away from the pool when no adult is present. However, the parents cannot be certain that their children are indeed abiding with the rules.

This is also a concern in communities with a lot of children. If you are the only home owner who has a pool, children will most likely, sneak in your backyard. If something wrong happens, you can be held liable. It is also an added responsibility on your part.

Moreover, it is expensive to have a pool installed. The initial cost is expensive as well as its repairs and maintenance. If something were wrong with the pool, checking and repairing it would be very costly. In addition to that, maintaining it is not only expensive but exhausting as well. You cannot just leave the pool unattended because it can get dirty and be contaminated. Debris will surely get in the open pool.

The decision to add a pool in your home should be based on the type of community you are in. if there is a community pool, having a pool in your backyard would not be a very wise decision especially if you are planning to sell the property. If you really want to have a pool, invest in structures to make it safe for children. Install good quality fences. This is an additional cost but it will surely prevent problems in the future.
