Abandoned pets need new adoptive pet owners and new donors to replace previous donors who have stopped giving to animal shelters and rescues because of their own financial difficulties.
A fund raising initiative has been launched to help pets abandoned by owners of Brooklyn foreclosure homes for sale. According to data, almost 1 million pets were affected by the foreclosure crisis.
An increasing number of abandoned pets have started filling up animal shelters to the brim. Most of these pets were left behind because of either unemployment or foreclosure.
A survey showed that majority of U.S. residents would rather adopt abandoned foreclosure pets than buy domestic animals from pet stores. Most respondents are also of the opinion that most pets for sale have hidden illnesses.
