Tom Suozzi, county executive of New York's Nassau County, has launched Long Island's Housing Crisis Task Force to stabilize the housing market and help prevent foreclosures.
Almost half of all homeowners in metro Toledo area in Ohio have seen the values of their properties dropped to less than the total mortgage they owe. And many of these homeowners have walked away from their properties, adding to the growing number of bank foreclosed homes in the area.
Foreclosure filings in New Jersey climbed up by over 30 percent in the first 6 months of 2009, based on data from the New Jersey Judiciary. Atlantic City had the highest foreclosure rate, with filings increasing by 70.5 percent in the first half.
