As the number of vacated foreclosed homes rise in numbers, communities are also seeing an increase in squatters in these locations prompting city inspectors to take night visits.
Abandoned repo homes throughout Minnesota will be rehabilitated with $10 million in loan funds provided by the McKnight Foundation to two Minnesota housing organizations.
Minneapolis foreclosure homes have been the focus of various federal programs such as Hope Now, HAMP and NSP. Hope Now has modified 21,000 mortgages in Minnesota while the NSP has given a total of $29.4 million to Minneapolis to help its neighborhoods.
