New York bank foreclosures in the housing sector increased in September and in the third quarter. Almost 15,300 foreclosure notices were filed in New York in the August to September quarter.
Foreclosure property filings surged in New York City in December, as unemployment continued to worsen. More than 2,000 households in the five New York boroughs received default and foreclosures notices in December last year.
House foreclosures for sale in Jackson, Tennessee drove down home prices in the area last year. The average home price dropped from $137,705 in 2005 to $123,057 last year.
The surge in foreclosures in Denver and in other cities in Colorado reflects the weaknesses of HAMP. Completed foreclosures spiked by 54 percent in the state in April to a total of 6,686 units.
