If you are thinking of reworking your basement and turning it into one other room that is used in the home, you may have a couple of problems that have to be dealt with. Basements are usually cold and darkish and with a view to make your basement a cushy room to use, these two areas have to be addressed.
You will have to ascertain whether your basement has any cracks or drainage problems that could interfere with comfortable living. Floors, drains, eaves troughs, downspouts and window wells should be keenly inspected, preferably after a typical rain or storm, to see if there are any issues that need to be corrected.
