The Texas Farm Bureau recently launched an interactive Web site devoted to changing archaic Texas eminent domain law. While many people may have heard of eminent domain, most probably do not know much about what exactly it is.
Representing the 33,000 working class residents of Riviera Beach, The Institute for Justice argued that going forward with the use of eminent domain not only violated Florida's new statute, but the constitution as well. There needed to be a precedence that would assure citizens that their homes could not be stripped away for the sake of personal greed, or in this case, a new upscale development.
